So what's the club all about?

Membership

The Club's membership comes mainly from the Lenzie, Kirkintilloch and Bishopbriggs areas to the north of Glasgow. Members range from juniors (5 - 13years old), youths (13-18 years old) seniors, veterans and families. The club encourages paddlers of all abilities and is keen to encourage family memberships. A basic requirement for membership is to be able to swim 50 metres. Junior paddlers must be accompanied on trips by a parent or guardian.

Equipment

We have 2 steel containers situated at the canal bank just outside Kirkintilloch where we keep the majority of the club equipment. This location allows club members to maximise the potential of the Forth and Clyde Canal for training and evening paddling during the summer months. Club equipment is quite extensive with a range of canoes covering sea kayaks, play boats, slalom boats, white water racers, open Canadian canoes and general touring kayaks, the majority of which is under 5 years old. The Club also has a range of buoyancy aids, paddles, helmets and spray decks to suit all size and shape of paddler and canoe.

Training

Training is available with courses being held in open water throughout the year. As well as our weekly canal sessions in the summer and pool sessions in the winter, we hold a variety of weekend trips! (See Programme)
